#11 Sometimes…there’s not two sides

Christina Perri “Who do you think you are? Running around leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts…tearing love apart”

Two sides to every story, that’s what we’re told to believe.

Every person stands by their side but what happens if ‘their side’ isn’t a ‘side’ at all?

Their side is so twisted and distorted that it is no longer a side, it is completely fabricated to align with their narrative.

Is there two sides, or in some instances, is there only one side that aligns with truth and facts? Yes.

My ex and sister were never close, in fact, they barely ever spoke. My ex would throw out insults about my sister minutes before she would arrive. Why? I don’t know, I think he simply didn’t like her and could see the implications of her years of abuse towards me.

My side is the truth. My side has honesty, facts (thanks impeccable memory) but also I have not sought out allies. I do not need allies to be on ‘my side’ yet my ex is looking for alliances anywhere. He wanted an ally, and what better alliance than my sister, to control the narrative.

So when my ex, who thought nothing of my sister, took her on his side, I knew this was a direct blow directed at me. This was to cause distress and psychological angst.

Key takeaways; if you hear two sides of a story, pay careful attention to who is recruiting for their story and who chooses to disengage. It’s quite often the quiet story, not being told, that’s truthful. This side doesn’t need acceptance or a cheer squad, they’ve simply moved away and are done defending themselves. They know the truth and know their close circle believes in them. That’s my side.
